2 mth checkup/vinny
WOW..has time flown. I cant beleive that Owen is TWO months already and that we have been home for almost a month now! Today on the drive down to madigan army medical center for owen's 2 mth appointment Sean and I were tlaking about how lucky we are for how things have turned out. If you think about it the say their discharge date is usually their due date which means that we still wouldve been staying int eh Fisher House and visiting Owen on the ICN until 2 days ago (my due date was May 12th) but instead we are home and have been for almsot a month and he came home with NO medications and no monitors and no major health problems. speaking of which he has been cleared and does NOT need a blood transfusion after all. We truly are grateful for our little miracle and know things couldve been worst. and although at the time it seemed like we were down there forever and would NEVER be going home but in hind-sight it wasnt long at all. We are home and he is healthy...what more could we ask for?!!!
As for his appointment:
It has been confirmed....HE LOVES HIS FOOD!!!! and definitly is vinnys lil brother...i can see them fighting over the last slice of pizza now.LOL. sorry....he now weighs 8 lbs 14 oz (75% for his corrected age...newborn) and is 18.5 in tall (25%) and his head is in the 50th percentile. so he may be short for his corrected age and a bit on the chubby side BUT he does NOT have a big knogen.LOL. oh and obviously we can take him off the 22 Kal formula as he doesnt need the extra cals. ;)
developmentally he is where a 2 mth old would be, in most areas, which is GREAT as he is only expected to be where a newborn is. starting at 4 nths he has to see a developmental physician to help him catch up to his real age, which almost all preemies have to go see one. other than that the Dr. says he is doing GREAT! her major concern is 2 yr old siblings.LOL. i told her vinny is GREAT with him and doesnt even pay much attention to him except to say "stinky baby owen" when he farts and he likes to tickle him lightly on the stomach. there has been NO jealuosy issues between him with owen. we REALLY lucked out!
VINNY:
Speaking of Vinny he is doing great too. getting big and says all sorts of things. he mimics everything and is very opinionated. he picked up a lovely word from my mother while he was staying with them (while we were at the fisher house) and so one of his new favorite things to say is "God Damnit!" Yup, thats right..."God Damnit!" he doesnt always add the God but sometimes he does which only makes it THAT much worst. Try being in an elevator with another adult and have him say OH DAMNIT! DAMNIT! ALL the way down from the 3rd floor...OH YES this happened to us at the hospital. i was trying to talk to sean louder than eh was saying it so the lady wouldnt hear him and give us dirty looks as we did NOT teach him that. sometimes we can not help but laugh...i know...i know..laughing does NOT help! so ya, other than his new phrase he is doing good and on the way to becoming a normal functioning person in todays society...well almost! ;)
Have a good week everyone!
