march 26-2 wks and 1 day

2 weeks and 1 day 26mar08 Current mood: ecstatic
so we had a good friend of the faily come out and visit to see Owen today. we went in and found him in clothes and they said he will get to remain in clothes from now on so all the outfits everyone got for him right after all this happened he will finally get to wear. i will try to take lots of pics. we also went to target here in lakewood and Baby Depot and got 3 lil outfits too. the reason he gets to remain in clothes is because they turned off the forced heat in the incubator and he is maintaining his own body temperature. they started this last night and he has been doing well they said. he will remain in the incubator until he gets some more meat on his bones. then he will get to move into an open isolette. YEAH!! He is still at 28 cc for food and 24 extra cals as they said they are going ot be upping his food intake a lot slower now as he has a lot mroe to digest. but it seems to be going well. ALSO, he has been rooting on everything and we had asked a while ago when they start to try a bottle/me bfding him and they had said at 34 weeks as that is when they develope the skills (text book speaking) to suck, swallow AND breath. apparently at his age they forget the breathing part (obviously the most important part). SO that would be next week BUT he has been doing so well they tried it last night and he did GREAT so now they are feeding him 2xs a day (not his whole feeding as it owuld take too much energy out of him but a couple of ccs) form a bottle! This is all soo exciting for us. we are hoping htis means he will get to go home a lil earlier. maybe in like 6 weeks?! who knows. my birthday is April 20th so it owuld be awesome if we got to take him home around then but i wont get my hopes up....but trying ot stay positive. he is doing AWESOME!
