march 21st-updates

3-20/3-21-08 updates Current mood: hopeful
so yesterday my mom and sis and vinny came out to meet us at the tacoma mall. vin was a handful as he was throwing fits and all. he wanted me to carry him and of course i cant and he doesnt understand so he just kept throwing fits. i was soo tired by the end of the day i crashed early so thats why there isnt a blog for yesterday. was just praying tomorow (today) would go better....it did.
so yesterday when we got to the hospital to see Owen they had upped his food to 26cc and he was doing good. they told us that a class at Pacific Lutheran University (here in Seattle) is doing a study and they wanted permission from us to use Owen in it as they selected him along with only a few other babies in the NICU to be a part of it and we said yes. if it gets published they will send us a copy of the article and all. Basically they are doing a study to show that the appearance of a baby (based on wether eits in just a diaper, dressed only in white and dressed in lots of color) makes a difference on how people react to a baby. so the nurses staff today took pics of owen in just a diaper laying on his back (he had to be int he same position for all 3 pics), then one of him in a white t shirt with a white blanket under him and then they put him in a lil blue otfit with a hat and a patterened blankie under him. i was there for it by chance so i took pics too and you can see them under his album. the outfits ate him alive. he was soo cute in them though. we get to keep the outfits and blankie too so we ahve them here at the hotel with us as he was getting too hot in them they said.
as for today he is still at 26 cc and they will be upping his feeds at a slower rate form now on so he has more time to digest it. BUT they did add some extra calories to his food. i beleive he is getting 22 extra cals with every feeding. not much to us but a lot for him. He unfortunatly had a lot of brady episodes today but they think it was due to the extra cals since his stomach has to work harder at digesting it and it can sit in his stomach longer than it should. so hopefully that is all it is. time will tell. i couldnt hold him today cuz of that....i was sad but ont he other hand dont want to cause more bradys. so i will be patient and wait until tomorow or whenever he stops having soo many (hopefully today will be all).
other than that things are about the same and going good. still taking it one day at a time. we didnt get to stay too long either times we went as we ahve vinny and its hard to keep him busy and happy for so long in a hospital. i feel bad not being able to stay long with owen but i know vinny needs us too. vin also has either a cold or his allergies are acting up so he cant go in and see owen which doesnt help right now either. hopefully things get better for vin and owen tonight! tomorow brings us a new day for hope!
